ILFORD has been manufacturing photographic materials for well over 125 years and now has a leading reputation for developing inkjet products for Original Equipment Manufacturers as well as a premium range of inkjet and colour products under its own ILFORD brand. ILFORD also offers a full contract manufacturing service.
The fully integrated manufacturing facility, based in Switzerland, includes all areas of expertise including R&D, Manufacturing, Technical Services, and Supply Chain. The product capabilities of the site include professional colour photographic material, dye development, ink manufacture for commercial applications and coating technology that can be applied to a wide range of substrates.
- Research and Development - it is essential that ILFORD is constantly working on 'building blocks' that can be applied to future product development or even future technologies. The team's experience has been built up over very many years from the original development of professional colour dyes and media that has now been applied to the latest inkjet dye and media technology. As the team also develops dyes that are used in today's inks for inkjet printers and therefore has a unique perspective on the interaction between dyes and coated media which is essential to ensure that the media is compatible with the latest printers in the marketplace.
- Manufacturing - ILFORD has the capability of testing all its development products on its pilot coating facility which a 'mini replica' of the main coating facility on the site. There are two areas ways of applying the coating to the base material - cascade and curtain coating - and ILFORD is able to use both coating methods depending on the final product application. ILFORD has spent over $10million upgrading its facility and improving is coating speed and capability.
- Technical Support - it is essential for ILFORD to support the customer and where applicable, ILFORD full tests the product to ensure that it is fit for its final application.
- Supply Chain – ILFORD has a fully integrated supply process that enables the Team to provide customers with the latest information on manufacturing, finishing, shipping or delivery.
- Quality Systems – ILFORD is ISO9002 certified and has complete traceability of its products through the entire manufacturing process.
